Jobs under threat as administrators called into Burger King, Wisbech – and 29 other stores owned by same franchisees
Jobs could be at risk following the news today that Burger King, Wisbech, is one of 30 outlets across the UK which has gone into administration.
Alix Partners has been appointed joint administrators over Millcliffe Ltd and CPL Foods that run the franchise stores. In total 1,000 workers could be affected.
The administrators were called in because of cash flow difficulties. They are hoping buyers can be found for all the stores and are in talks with Burger King Europe, the franchisor.
Burger King stores affected include those at Great Yarmouth, Bury St Edmunds, Nottingham, Blackpool Bridlington and Port Talbot.
The store, in the interim, will continue to trade as normal.
Joint administrator Nick Cropper said: “Our priority now is to work closely with the business and determine the optimum route forward for the companies as we continue to serve our valued guests throughout the UK.
“We are confident that the companies are an attractive proposition for a range of potential buyers and, as such, we expect and welcome contact from interested third parties.”
